A public blog?

I must want to alienate potential fans. Right? Wouldn't my writing time be better spent, oh...say, writing fiction? What about other creatives? Can I afford to say anything critical of anyone when I'm an untested one in the eyes of the wider community?

No.

Nah, I've written much more non-fiction than fiction.

What about them? Public, creative works will always be scrutinized in one way another by everyone who encounters them. The key is respect.
